The company prepared a plan of activities to be carried out at the production sites during the spring flood on Jan 27th, 2024. On March 2, a flood risk prevention commission and a headquarters were established. The headquarters included responsible specialists. Today, the situation in the mining fields is under constant control, the headquarters is working together with the operational headquarters of the region and districts, reports General Director of AP-NAFTA OPERATING.
According to the emergency headquarters, on April 9 of this year, the consequences of flooding were detected at the East Uaz mine field of “Kaynarmunaigaz” MGE management. Due to the rise of the water level in the river, 3 wells were partially flooded. The consumption of these wells is 6.6 tons per day. They are compensated by the calculation of other deposits of EMG. Today, the water level in these areas has receded to 25 meters.
In other fields of “AP-NAFTA OPERATING, the situation is stable, there is no risk of flooding, however, precautions are being taken in the mines.
A 2.8-kilometer-long, 1-meter-high dam is being constructed for the safety of the gas pipeline in the Tereng-Uzek field on the banks of the Zhem River, which is at risk of flooding.
Taking into account the risk of flooding of the East Makat mine, a defense construction of 340 meters in length and 0.5 meters in height is being carried out by the management of Dossormunaigaz. 19 workers were partially evacuated due to flooding of the 1.5-kilometer field road connecting the Altykol and Komsomol mines and for the safety of the workers. In addition, 31 workers (11 of them from contractors) continue to work at the mines. Production facilities are working normally. In addition, the 7.5-kilometer Altykol-Komsomol oil pipeline (total length -28 kilometers) was flooded. Strengthening works are underway to prevent further spread of water and flooding of field roads.
Under the management of “Zhayikmunaigaz” MGE, works on strengthening and extension of the old dam in the territory of the South-Eastern Kamysty mine field have been started. Its total length is 1100 meters, height – 2 meters. In addition, works are underway to clean and strengthen the channel of the canals between South-West Kamysty and South-East Kamysty, S. Balgymbayev and South-West Kamysty mines. Opening of sluices (barriers) along the Baksai and Naryn canals leading to the Caspian Sea is underway.
From March 22, 2024, we began to provide assistance to flood-affected areas of Atyrau region. The company supplies districts with special equipment based on demand. Today, 44 special equipment, 14.2 tons of fuel, 450 shovels, 4,500 gloves, and 600 disposable overalls were distributed to the districts.
From April 5, specialists of “AP-NAFTA OPERATING completed 40 percent of the 4.4-kilometer embankment work allocated by the Atyrau regional headquarters in the village of Almaly, Makhambet district. Since April 9, all human resources, that is, about 300 people and several dozen equipment, have been mobilized to a new site – to strengthen the defense of the 4.4-kilometer embankment of the Saryozek River.
In the city of Kulsary of Zhylyoi district, where a state of emergency was declared, aid teams of AP-NAFTA OPERATING specialists were formed.
